The Economic and Fiscal Policy Unit aims to provide technical analysis and assessment research support on a wide range of socio-economic and environmental issues to aid the transition to inclusive and greener economies. Countries are increasingly adopting the Inclusive Green Economy (IGE) approach and designing green economy strategies in line with their challenges and needs. Green economy research supports policy-makers in identifying key areas and shifting policies and investments towards greener trajectories for environmental preservation, social protection and equity.
The Unit’s flagship Green Economy Report, demonstrated the potential of IGE as an engine for sustainable growth. The Unit also coordinated the publication of Working towards a balanced, inclusive green economy, a UN system-wide report that facilitated a common understanding of Green Economy and measures required for the transition.
The Unit’s work-streams are focused on six main areas. Click on the links below to learn more.
