UN Environment’s West Asia Office supports healthy environments, clean air and water, and productive land for resilient and sustainable development.

The Challenge
West Asia is oil rich and water scarce, and the region occupies a strategic geopolitical location at the crossroads of three continents.

These factors, in combination with others, have triggered conflicts and rivalries that have had serious impacts on people and the environment. Peace and improved environmental governance are key to achieving prosperity and resilience in the West Asian region.
